(York, Waterloo and Windsor does, but I want something far from Toronto) Lakehead and Mcgill requires a high cumulative GPA which I don't have. I have pretty decent GPA for the last two years of university though. I want to eventually get into MSW. Now, there are MSW programs which don't require a BSW, however I need substantial work experience for that. I was wondering to get into an accelerated social work program in college right now and get a job in social services. Then later on down the road, apply for Masters. Does that sound right? or getting a social work college diploma is a bad idea? What's your experience? did anyone do (or thinking about doing) what I am about to do? Please let me know..

I have a cello that keeps slipping whenever I tune it. Its so bad it's to the point where i tune one string but by the time I get to the next one it's already out of tune. People of that generation (I am 48) did not have access to the kind of credit that is available today .They weren't bombarded with advertising everywhere. I think he is overreacting. If he was a true friend he would let you explain what happened and actually listen. You don't really need to explain yourself to the people he hangs around with. All they heard was his side of the story and people shouldn't just take a side when they don't know both sides of the story. If he still isn't talking to you after 2 months then I don't think you should care about it anymore, especially if he says he still hates you, or won't talk to you. Don't think about what you should have done because it's already over with, you didn't know how serious his injuries were. You should try to explain yourself ONE more time and tell him to listen, if he chooses not to and walks away then he is walking away from your friendship, if he listens and still thinks your lying then there's not much you can do, and finally if he listens and forgives you then you will have a good friendship. I have a 2003 S10 pickup 4.3 V6, the low pressure switch was unplugged, when i plugged it in the compressor kicks on the right back off. When i bypass the switch the compressor stays on but air isn't blowing any cooler. Checked the freon level, high side is showing normal, low side is near pegged out. No change while compressor is running. Any suggestions?

Guilty about good graduation grade?

I got my marks earlier today, hoping for a 2:1 but expecting to get a fairly average 2:2, maybe low 2:1. Instead it turns out I got a first class degree, with the second highest mark in the class, but I feel terrible about it. My grade was published along with my results, so I checked them to be sure and they add up fine. I didn't cheat and put lots of effort into my work all the time, and know I'm fairly self-critical, but even though I'd been told I could get that mark I still pegged myself lower. My friends and family keep asking what I got, and every time I'm asked I feel worse. I haven't been able to tell anybody yet because I feel so guilty about it, but I don't know why. One of my housemates is quite big headed and has always regarded me as some sort of idiot, so when he asked what I got, I explained that I didn't want to talk about it and now I'm fairly sure he thinks I didn't graduate or got a low third or something. I want to feel proud of my results and tell people, but instead I feel really guilty. My course has shut down now, so I was in the last year that would ever be examined, so I'm also scared people will think the university boosted my grade, even though it was all externally moderated because there were so few people left in the class at the end. I know I've worked just as hard as anybody else, and should be proud of my marks, but I still can't help feeling bad about it all. You should just drop hints like in teasing ways that you dont like cocky guys, that it turns you off when a guy acts arrogent, that you would never date a guy who acted like he was the ****, that you really think poorly of guys who act like that, etc. He should get the hint and if he likes you he may try to tone it down a bit. Social work career taking too long?

This is a vent/question. While going through school it has taken 6 years (and 50,000 dollars in debt) to obtain my bachelors due to switching majors starting from music to finished with sociology/psychology. Now with no letter of recommendation from a professor which is required to apply for an MSW, to obtain that will be another 2-3 years plus taking the exam to even obtain a license in social work. Im just very worn out and exhausted from the adventure and it just seems like there will always be a next stem and me becoming a social worker seems to be more and more abstract. Right now I work with MR people doing relief work for the flexibility and while that is great experience, it isn't what I want to go to, and I also started volunteering a couple weeks ago at a local VA hospital working with a licensed MSW to finally see what it's like to be in the field. I don't have any other passion except working with people, helping them out that sort or thing. So it's pretty much this field or dedicating my life to the military. Im sick of being 24 and not having a real job or career. Okay, so I've been writing loads of different stories ever since I was able to hold a pencil and have found a few publishers that are interested in me. The oil pressure gauge on my 1991 GMC Sonoma fluctuates between reading way too high and reading normal.?

Dual monitor problem?

I installed a new graphics card (Nvidia GeForce 7300 LE), which has a DVI port. I got a 2-way DVI to VGA splitter and plugged in my two monitors for dual desktop. At startup, the dual monitor setup always works, but after a certain amount of time, one of the monitors stops being recognized and the display reverts back to a single monitor (the screen that is no longer recognized is not the same one everytime). The only way for me to get my two displays to show again is for me to restart my computer. Is there a way to make it so that both displays are always recognized and functioning properly? Oh yeah... and I have Windows 7 Professional 64-bit. I also tried the same setup with an ATI FirePro graphics card (this card had 2 DVI ports with VGA converters, so I used those), and I was experiencing the same problem. I even went into the BIOS and made sure my active video defaulted to PEG instead of Auto, and still no luck. Does anyone know what could be causing this strange problem? Any help is much appreciated. Oh... and my monitors are both LG Flatron L1943PE.

No one in my entire family has ever been to college and I want them to be really proud of me and I feel they would be if I went to a major flagship University here in Florida where I currently live. I would just be honest and tell them that you don't feel comfortable with the drive. Tell them you're vegan and this is really unethical to you. Social work career taking too long?

This is a vent/question. While going through school it has taken 6 years (and 50,000 dollars in debt) to obtain my bachelors due to switching majors starting from music to finished with sociology/psychology. Now with no letter of recommendation from a professor which is required to apply for an MSW, to obtain that will be another 2-3 years plus taking the exam to even obtain a license in social work. Im just very worn out and exhausted from the adventure and it just seems like there will always be a next stem and me becoming a social worker seems to be more and more abstract. Right now I work with MR people doing relief work for the flexibility and while that is great experience, it isn't what I want to go to, and I also started volunteering a couple weeks ago at a local VA hospital working with a licensed MSW to finally see what it's like to be in the field. I don't have any other passion except working with people, helping them out that sort or thing. So it's pretty much this field or dedicating my life to the military. Im sick of being 24 and not having a real job or career. So I would like to hear other peoples experience when going for their MSW, if I should just suck it up and keep pushing forward, or if I even need the MSW degree and can make "decent money" being a case worker.

First, my friend has a PhD in Clinical Psych and she did not get a MSW it is in a totally different field and course of study so maybe talk to a academic adviser at your school. If you are having doubts about your career choice you might want to figure out what you want to do before you invest in a Phd in it. That is what is going to cost you. If you want to be a Clinical Psychologist than it is worth the time and money you will put into it. The government does not expect you to pay a ton of money to pay back your student loan, it is very reasonable. I only pay $127 per month. Once you get a job you will be able to pay back your loan and it wont be a burden, you don't have to start paying until you get a job.

So I am a social worker and am all for fighting for and helping those who are oppressed and need help. I have had several arguments with my fiance because he feels completely different than I do. I am very passionate about what I chose to do in life and he doesn't respect it and at times I just want to not talk to him after our discussions. I know that no couple will ever be completely similar and if so it would be boring in a way but is this too much difference? For one, I support gay people and think they should have equal rights, and he is completely against it. He feels it is there fault for being in the situation they are in without taking poverty, abuse, neglect, substance abuse into consideration. Another thing is that close to where I live I always see cops pulling over minorities for no reason and so I was telling him how unfair it was to profile them and he went off about how they deserve it being that he is a minority himself. He is so arrogant and thinks he knows it all and is always right. My question is, where would this go? Will I be able to live a life with him when we have such different views and how can I be with someone who has no empathy for the population I work with AND also does not understand why I do it. Okay first of all it's in the dark so it's good so you don't see whats coming. I am on the fence between working on a MSW from St. Leo University or an MBA from Texas A&M. I love both business and Psychology, and would have eventually loved to get into counseling. First you are to acknowledge the thought by saying " I acknowledge that I have this thought right now in my mind." The next step is to say " I am now going to let this thought go." I had to do this acknowledgment many times until I was able to think about something and then let it go. I am not trying to mitigate your situation. but since this is a life lesson for you (we all have them) you are going to have to find some way to let these past hurts go. Mars life lessons are always tough because we always feel that we need to act. Maybe not act appropriately, but we want action! And we want it now! Think about all the energy that it takes to dwell on past issues. I could suggest forgiveness but Mars rarely wants to travel down Forgiveness Road. Maybe this will help as Mars needs action. Take up a sport (tennis comes to mind, baseball too like a batting cage) and when you are hitting that ball pretend that it is the one that wronged you in your past. Beat the crap out of them! My (male!!) cousin hurt my head!!!!!!!?

I have an associates (2 yr degree) in human services, which would allow me to do social work. I am a TSS and make $15.00 per hour (which is a lot for the area in which i live) at a job ive been at for 3 years. How to keep a violin in tune?

A few months ago I received a cheap used violin for Christmas. When first trying to tune it, I accidentally broke a string. So finally, a week ago I got around to buying a whole set of strings. When attempting to tune it again, the violin will just not stay in tune. For example, I will tune the "G", and by the time I finish the other three its already F to F#. Other than Counseling/Therapy, what else would a MSW allow me to do?

I'm considering getting an MSW because I want to work with children and families. I would like to work for CPS and I know that requires a degree in Social Work. Which one is better depends on what you would prefer. I would definitely get a masters degree if you can. If you don't decide on or get another job, and you would still be interested in becoming a paralegal, go ahead. After the way that Clint treated him and Gigi it's totally understandable why Rex would treat him like this. What are some good mystery/thriller books?

I am 14 and I LOVE mystery and thiller books! Ones that keep me hooked! I really like the authers Frank E. Peretti and Peg Kehret but I have read one of hers in a while. So as you can see Peretti does really long ones and Kerhet usually does short books. What are some really good books that you have read or what are some of your favorite authors? Where can I find funding for an MSW degree?

I got into the MSW program at USC and I want to do it--it's a great school and a top 10 program, but they told me that very little in the way of scholarships exists for their students, and because I'm not independently wealthy, the $84,000 in tuition for that program is cost prohibitive. I've done online searches and seen the random scholarships out there from foundations, but I've been told by several people that getting an MSW degree funded is very difficult. I could take out loans, but $84,000 in debt, plus interest over the years, plus the cost of living in LA for the two years I'm in the program would make my life very difficult especially given that as a practicing social worker I would probably never make a lot of money. Does anyone know of any sources of grants and scholarships for MSW training that I wouldn't find on one of the regular university financial aid sites?
